4th Global Cotton Conference unveils 'Cotton 2040'

Held in New Delhi on October 7, 2025, the 4th Global Conference, unveiled ‘Cotton 2040,’ a White Paper that outlines a roadmap for the future of the cotton sector, focusing on key challenges and opportunities leading up to the year 2040. The document was officially released by Pabitra Margherita, Union Minister of State for Textiles. The White Paper was jointly developed by the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) and Indian Chamber of Food and Agriculture (ICFA)
The document focuses on technology, climate & competitiveness to ensure a sustainable and prosperous future for the global cotton industry, with particular focus on India. The 4th Global Cotton conference was jointly organized by the Ministry of Textiles, CITI, and the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI). It aimed to explore pathways for achieving a more sustainable, technologically advanced, and competitive global cotton industry, and to strengthen India's leadership in the cotton value chain.
