Accelerating Circularity & Performance Days launch rPolyester database
Accelerating Circularity, in collaboration with Performance Days, is set to unveil the Reality Zone rPolyester at Performance Days Functional Fabric Fair in Munich, Germany, on March 20–21, 2024. This initiative aims to promote textile-to-textile recycling systems on a commercial scale, fostering collaboration between polyester recyclers and fabric producers. The event will serve as a platform for industry stakeholders to explore opportunities for incorporating recycled polyester into their processes and products, thereby advancing circular supply chains.
Two workshops will be featured during the event. The first, titled ‘T2T Recycled Polyester Essentials’ will delve into the technological aspects of recycled polyester production from textile feedstocks. Leading equipment suppliers such as Coleo, Tomra, Erema, Oerilikon, Valvan, and Andritz will provide insights into essential processes, including the transformation of feedstocks into chips, fiber, and yarn.
The second workshop ‘Reality Zone rPolyester Database Launch’ will unveil the Reality Zone rPolyester database. This database will offer comprehensive information on commercially available recycled polyester sourced from textile feedstocks, covering both thermal-mechanical and chemical recycling methods. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with experts from companies such as Lycra, Gr3n, Carbios, Antex, and Unifi, gaining valuable insights into recycling processes and fiber formation.
Karla Magruder, President of Accelerating Circularity, emphasizes the significance of providing industry players with access to reliable information on recycled polyester to facilitate their adoption of sustainable practices. Marco Weichert, CEO of Performance Days, expresses enthusiasm for the partnership's role in driving the industry towards sustainability and circularity.
Through these workshops and the Reality Zone rPolyester, stakeholders will be empowered to make informed decisions, contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the promotion of sustainable practices within the textile industry.
