Ambika Cotton Mills to add 12, 528 spindles at Dindigul facility

Ambika Cotton Mills has initiated capacity expansion at its Dindigul facility, committing Rs 57 crore to install 12,528 spindles dedicated to specialty yarn production. This investment marks a decisive move to diversify beyond standard combed cotton into technical and value-added segments, such as compact and multi-fold yarns. By increasing its spindling assets, the company aims to capitalize on the widening demand for high-performance fabrics in the global ‘athleisure’ and premium shirting markets. The project is financed through a balanced mix of internal accruals and debt, ensuring capital efficiency while expanding the operational footprint.
The expansion comes as Indian yarn manufacturers face strong competition from recycled fiber alternatives and shifting trade dynamics in the European Union. Ambika’s focus on specialty yarn serves as a competitive moat, protecting margins against the volatility of raw cotton prices. Industry analysts note, this capacity addition could potentially increase the company’s revenue contribution from specialty segments by 15 per cent over the next two fiscal years. The integration of automated winding and advanced contamination sorters within this new unit further aligns with the global apparel industry's escalating requirements for zero-defect yarn. This facility expansion ensures that Ambika remains a preferred vendor for luxury textile houses that demand consistent, high-tenacity yarn for high-speed weaving and knitting applications.
Ambika Cotton Mills is a premier manufacturer of high-quality combed cotton yarn, primarily serving the premium shirting and knitted garment sectors. Operating mainly in the export markets of Europe and Asia, the company focuses on specialty yarn segments. Established in 1988, Ambika maintains a strong financial profile with consistent dividend payouts.
