Andhra Pradesh boosts textile value chain with Rs 4,100 crore investment drive

Andhra Pradesh has emerged as a focal point for industrial growth within the Indian textile sector, securing investment commitments of Rs 4,100 crore during the recently concluded Bharat Tex 2026 in New Delhi. This capital influx underscores the state’s intent to move from a traditional manufacturing base toward a high-value, sustainable products.

The state government facilitated two primary MoUs designed to modernize its industrial footprint. The most commitment involves a Rs 4,000 crore sustainable textile recycling facility in Visakhapatnam. By prioritizing circularity, the state aligns itself with global shifts toward resource-efficient production and ESG-compliant manufacturing. Complementing this, Rs 100 crore garment manufacturing unit is set to expand local production capacity, with projected estimates indicating the creation of 3,000 direct and indirect jobs.

These commitments reflect a robust confidence in Andhra Pradesh’s potential as a premier sourcing and manufacturing hub, noted state officials during the event. Beyond large-scale infrastructure, the state’s engagement included outreach to global stakeholders from companies such as Arvind Ltd and Trident Group, specifically aimed at promoting its GI-tagged handloom clusters like Uppada Jamdani and Venkatagiri sarees.

Integrating heavy industry with the preservation of heritage crafts, this two-pronged approach, positions Andhra Pradesh to enhance its competitive standing in the global textile trade as India pursues an ambitious US$ 100 billion export target by 2030.
