Arvind Ltd launches India’s first CO2 dyeing machine in Ahmedabad

In collaboration with the H&M Group and Indian startup Deven Supercriticals, Arvind Ltd has inaugurated India’s first supercritical CO2 dyeing machine at its facility in Ahmedabad. Patented globally as the Suprauno brand, this new technology marks a major step forward for sustainable textile manufacturing. Instead of using large amounts of water, the machine uses supercritical carbon dioxide to dye fabric. This process offers environmental benefits at a commercial scale, including water savings of upto 76 per cent, energy savings of around 67 per cent and 90 per cent reduction in chemical usage. Additionally, the technology dramatically reduces wastewater discharge from the dyeing process.
The launch of the machine is the result of a unique partnership. Deven Supercriticals provided the cutting-edge innovation, Arvind enabled its large-scale industrial use, and the H&M Group supported its adoption to advance its sustainability goals. The project represents a first-of-its-kind effort to scale a lab-based innovation to bulk production.
