Bhilwara textile hub gets Rs 221 cr boost

The Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) has approved Rs 221.03 crore for the development of the Roopaheli Textile Park in Bhilwara, a crucial step for the city known as India's 'Textile City'. This investment, sanctioned for the 12.48 lakh sq. meter site in Hurda Tehsil, aims to transform Bhilwara from a traditional production center into a modernized, integrated manufacturing and export hub. The plan includes developing 181 industrial plots and establishing vital infrastructure like skill development centers, fire stations, and common effluent facilities to support the entire textile value chain—spinning, weaving, processing, and garmenting.
Bhilwara's textile sector, which generates an estimated Rs 25,000 crore in annual turnover, has maintained an impressive 8-10 per cent average annual growth rate and contributes significantly to the state's yarn and fabric exports. Historically dominant in Polyester-Viscose (PV) fabrics, the new park is strategically timed to increase the shift towards high-value technical textiles. The Roopaheli Textile Park is the long-awaited solution to consolidate the ecosystem, streamline logistics, and mitigate operational challenges like high power costs, positioning Bhilwara for sustained export growth.
