Birla Cellulose, the cellulosic fibres division of Aditya Birla Group’s Grasim Industries, has entered a five-year strategic partnership with US based textile recycler Circ. This collaboration aims to boost the adoption of recycled materials in the textile sector. Under the agreement, Birla Cellulose will purchase up to 5,000 tons of Circ's pulp annually from Circ's first large-scale facility, converting it into lyocell staple fibre for sustainable production.

Peter Majeranowski, CEO of Circ, emphasized the partnership as a meaningful advancement toward a circular economy in the fashion industry, noting that incorporating Circ's recycled materials helps build a more sustainable production model. Aspi Patel, Chief Technology Officer of Grasim, underscored that the collaboration with Circ reflects Grasim's dedication to innovation and environmental responsibility.

As brands and consumers increasingly demand eco-friendly products, this collaboration emphasizes the role of supply chain partnerships in meeting these needs. Birla Cellulose’s proactive commitment to recycling ensures a steady supply of recycled lyocell, supporting brands sustainability goals while promoting circular practices.

Both companies are aligned in their dedication to a sustainable future, with shared goals to advance recycling technologies and reduce the environmental impact of textiles. This partnership marks a significant milestone in industry-wide efforts to establish a circular economy.
