The Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) has increased cotton selling rates by Rs 800 per candy, responding to aggressive procurement from domestic spinning mills and institutional traders during the third week of July 2026. Weekly auction volumes rose to 318,000 bales from the 2025-26 crop season, driving cumulative seasonal sales past 8.5 million bales.

This strong market uptake reflects sustained demand for high-grade fiber despite lingering headwinds in kharif sowing acreage across western manufacturing belts. Spinning mills are currently facing tighter raw material provisioning costs, compelling manufacturers to optimize operating efficiencies and secure short-term supply contracts. Rising institutional reserve prices demand strict inventory management across spinning lines, though robust export order books for carded and combed yarns help cushion margin pressures, states a cotton procurement strategist. Meanwhile, stakeholders are closely monitoring central government import duty extensions to maintain competitive yarn realization spreads heading into the upcoming festival season.
