Ester Industries teams up with Loop Industries for India’s first Infinite Loop plant

Top manufacturer of polyester films and specialty polymers, Ester Industries and Loop Industries have signed a JV named Ester Loop Infinite Technologies (ELITe). The new company has acquired land near Surat, Gujarat, to build India's first-ever Infinite Loop manufacturing facility. To be built with an investment of about Rs 1,600 crore, this groundbreaking plant, will focus on sustainable recycling.

The facility is designed to chemically recycle low-value polyester textile waste, transforming it into high-quality virgin-grade PET (polyethylene terephthalate) resin. With an initial annual capacity of 70,000 metric tons, the plant has plans for a future expansion to produce an additional 100,000 metric tons.

The facility is engineered to operate on roughly 80 per cent renewable electricity and biofuels, and is expected to cut carbon emissions by up to 80 per cent compared to traditional PET production that relies on petroleum. This venture marks a major step toward creating a circular economy within India's textile industry.
