Global Cotton leaders gather at ICA Liverpool 2024 for key discussions

Over 500 delegates from the global cotton community convened at the International Cotton Association's (ICA) annual event in Liverpool, held from Oct16-17, 2024. Featuring keynote speakers including Arvind Singhal (Technopak Advisors) and Colin Iles (Viterra), and panels, the event deliberated on the impact of legislation and Artificial Intelligence on cotton. The sessions also addressed arbitration and key cotton regions, with contributions from the ICA’s Women in Cotton Committee. Networking and business opportunities remained a key draw. At the closing gala, Kim Hanna handed over the ICA presidency to Mohomed Bashir of Gul Ahmed Textile Mills, highlighting the importance of industry unity. She emphasised the ‘power of ‘we’ and the ICA’s efforts to promote cotton’s sustainability amidst growing synthetic fiber competition. Hanna also announced new committees focused on engaging brands and advocating for cotton in global legislation. Next ICA event is scheduled to be held in Dubai from Oct 08-09, 2025
