Global organic cotton markets poised to grow at 44% by 2030: Report

The global organic cotton market is growing, driven by an increase in consumer demand for sustainable fashion. Valued at $1.32 billion in 2023, the market is projected to grow 44.4 per cent from 2025 to 2030, says a report by ReasearchandMarkets.com.
Growth is being driven by growing awareness of the environmental impact of conventional cotton farming. Consumers are increasingly seeking eco-friendly alternatives like organic cotton, which uses natural methods to reduce pollution and conserve water. Additionally, ethical considerations like fair trade practices are attracting socially conscious shoppers.
Fashion brands are taking notice, with many incorporating organic cotton into their clothing lines. This shift is not just in apparel, but also in home goods and personal care products. Social media plays a key role in promoting organic cotton's benefits, educating consumers and fostering trust.
Government regulations and incentives are also propelling the market forward. Stricter controls on agricultural chemicals encourage organic practices, while subsidies make it easier for farmers to switch.
Apparel currently dominates the market, accounting for 60 per cent of revenue in 2023. The Asia Pacific region leads the way. International brands are increasingly sourcing organic cotton from this region, supported by certifications such as the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS).
