Hyderabad to anchor global textile future at ATEXCON 2026
In strategic partnership with the government of Telangana, the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) will host the 13th Asian Textile Conference (ATEXCON) in Hyderabad on April 2-3, 2026. This high-level ministerial forum arrives as the Indian textile sector targets a $350 billion valuation by 2030, navigating a landscape defined by shifting geopolitical trade blocs and the ‘China Plus One’ sourcing strategy. A central feature of the event is the Telangana Textile Dialogue, which will showcase the rapid industrialization of the state, headlined by the ongoing operational scaling of the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal.
Industry focus has moved beyond basic manufacturing toward advanced material science. Data suggests the Indian cotton yarn industry is projected to grow by 7–9 per cent in FY26, yet the conference will prioritize the scaling of man-made fibers (MMF) and bio-based textiles to meet tightening global sustainability mandates. ATEXCON 2026 serves as the blueprint for the 'Factory of Tomorrow,' where AI-driven traceability and circular manufacturing are no longer optional, stated Ashwin Chandran, Chairman, CITI during the curtain-raiser.
The agenda addresses critical liquidity challenges through the newly launched Rs 497 crore RELIEF scheme, designed to mitigate rising freight costs impacting the South Asian supply chain. With over 3,500 global participants expected, the summit will facilitate direct B2B engagement between Asian spinners and European retail giants. A curated site visit to the PM MITRA Park will offer delegates a firsthand look at India’s largest integrated ‘fiber-to-fashion’ ecosystem, highlighting a 25 per cent energy cost reduction through localized captive solar grids.
The Confederation of Indian Textile Industry is the apex chamber representing the entire textile value chain in India. It influences trade policy, facilitates international investment, and promotes technical innovation in spinning and weaving. CITI currently focuses on regional cooperation and establishing India as a global hub for sustainable, high-performance technical textiles.
