India's T&A exports rise to $3.10 billion in July 2025: DGCIS

India's textile and apparel (T&A) exports increased 5.37 per cent Y-o-Y to $3.10 billion in July 2025, as per quick estimates from the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence & Statistics (DGCIS). Total exports of the six major textile commodity groups exceeded the $3.1 billion mark. Jute exports increased by 26.35 per cent while handicrafts exports (excluding handmade carpets) rose by 10.01 per cent

For the first four months of the fiscal year spanning April-July 2025, cumulative textile exports increased by 3.87 per cent Y-o-Y to $12.18 billion. The growth comes despite significant global headwinds, including a new 50 per cent US tariff on Indian textile exports, which has raised concerns for major hubs like Tiruppur. In response, the Indian government has taken steps to support the industry, such as temporarily exempting the 11 per cent import duty on raw cotton to reduce input costs.
