India’s textile machinery exports rise as manufacturers focus on advanced technology

As per latest industry data, textile machinery and components exports from India have increased approximately 12 per cent over the last fiscal year, driven largely by a shift towards automated weaving and spinning technologies. More and more Indian manufacturers are prioritizing high-precision machinery to meet global quality standards. This shift was evident from the recent recognition of Nishant D Mhatre, Member, Indian Textile Accessories & Machinery Manufacturers’ Association (ITAMMA), who was awarded the Certificate of International Excellence, by the Global Research Foundation, USA.

This shift is critical for the domestic textile value chain, which is targeting a significant increase in global market share for technical textiles and high-end apparel fabrics. Mhatre opines, the sector’s current growth is defined by the integration of sustainable manufacturing practices that is essential for aligning with the ESG mandates of European and North American retailers.

While the industry faces persistent challenges due to raw material cost volatility and global logistics, investment in indigenous, innovative engineering remains high. Companies are focusing on scalable solutions that increase fabric consistency, proving that the Indian textile sector is moving from a traditional labor-intensive model to a technology-driven manufacturing powerhouse capable of supporting global demand for sophisticated yarn and specialized fibers.
