Union minister for textiles, Giriraj Singh, chaired a key meeting of the Textile Advisory Group (TAG) on Cotton and Man-Made Fibre (MMF) to assess the progress of initiatives aimed at enhancing India’s textile value chain. Minister of state for textiles, Pabitra Margherita, and textile secretary Neelam Shami Rao also attended.

Singh emphasized the need to boost cotton productivity and quality under the Prime Minister’s 5F vision - Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign. He called for greater innovation, collaboration, and data mapping to create targeted, efficient policy interventions and urged a comprehensive gap analysis across the industry's demand-supply chain.

Margherita appealed to stakeholders to align efforts towards Vision 2030 by boosting value returns to farmers through sustainable farming and advanced processing practices. Rao on the other hand urged industry to adopt advanced technologies and build a unified roadmap to strengthen integration across the textile value chain.

Industry leaders welcomed the government’s push for technology, sustainable fibre promotion, and deeper farmer-industry partnerships. The meeting saw participation from key ministries, research institutes, and industry bodies, representing the full spectrum of the textile sector.
