Indian textile and apparel exports rise 12.38% in September 2024, says CITI

India’s textile and apparel exports continued to move north in September, reveals CITI’s latest statistics. Textile exports increased by 9.56 per cent compared to September 2023, while apparel exports surged by 17.30 per cent over the same period. Cumulatively, the textile and apparel sector registered a 12.38 per cent rise in exports during September 2024 compared to the previous year.
From April to September 2024, textile exports grew by 2.76 per cent, and apparel exports recorded an 8.51 per cent growth, contributing to an overall export growth of 5.13 per cent compared to the same period in 2023.
Key segments driving growth include man-made yarn, fabrics, and made-ups, which clocked in 11.41 per cent rise in September 2024. In contrast, India’s raw cotton imports rose 236.26 per cent in September 2024, while import of textile yarn, fabrics, and made-ups dropped by 1.80 per cent. Textile and apparel exports made up 8.45 per cent of India’s total exports in September 2024, a significant increase from 7.56 per cent in the previous year.
