Lenzing launches new cellulose fiber, Tencel Lyocell-HV 100

Fiber specialist Lenzing has launched a new cellulose fiber designed to mimic the appearance and texture of natural fabrics. Confirming it developed this fiber in direct response to market demand for a more textured aesthetic, the company named it Tencel Lyocell-HV100.
The fabric gets its signature irregular look from precisely controlled variations in the fiber's staple length, which spans from 10 to 28 millimeters. Lenzing points out, this feature, along with a matte surface, boosts the fabric's opacity. This gives manufacturers and brands more creative freedom to develop materials with a genuine, natural feel.
The fiber will give a soft hand but with a less fluid drape, making it exceptionally good for premium denim. Crucially, it maintains its texture through wash cycles while avoiding common issues during processing.
The fiber has shown strong results in denim applications where an authentic, textured look is key, reports Lenzing This success is opening up new possibilities for warp yarns, which are typically dominated by cotton, all while maintaining efficient processing. Early trials also suggest wider potential in both general apparel and home textiles.
Tencel Lyocell-HV100 will first be used in denim products, with plans to expand into broader textile and home textile uses set for 2026.
