MIDC fast-tracks Phase 2 of Amravati PM MITRA Park
Maharashtra is intensifying its bid to become India’s primary textile gateway, with the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) officially activating a high-powered nodal committee to accelerate the Amravati PM MITRA Park. Led by a Deputy CEO and Chief Engineer, this specialized task force is mandated to bypass bureaucratic bottlenecks for the 1,000-acre Phase 2 expansion. By prioritizing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and securing environmental clearances by early 2026, the state aims to capitalize on the brownfield advantage of the Nandgaon Peth site, which has already seen a Rs 111 crore infusion for trunk infrastructure.
The strategic urgency is underscored by the park’s proximity to the newly completed Samruddhi Mahamarg, cutting transit times to Mumbai’s ports to under 10 hours. Unlike traditional clusters, the Amravati hub is being engineered for the ‘Fiber-to-Foreign’ vision, integrating cotton ginning with high-tech weaving and garmenting. ‘With the India-New Zealand and Oman trade pacts opening new duty-free windows, Amravati is no longer just a regional hub; it is an export launchpad,’ noted a regional industrialist during a recent investment summit where 78 MoUs worth Rs 2,087 crore were signed. The park is projected to attract total investments of Rs 10,000 crore, positioning Vidarbha as a formidable competitor to integrated clusters in Vietnam and Bangladesh.
A flagship Central Government scheme designed to build world-class, integrated textile ecosystems, the PM MITRA scheme co-locates spinning, weaving, processing, and apparel manufacturing to eliminate logistics ‘chokepoints.’ The scheme aims to establish seven mega parks across India by 2027-28, with each park expected to generate
