Odisha signs 33 MoUs worth Rs 7,808 crore in T&A sector
Odisha has signed 33 MoUs worth Rs 7, 808 crore with various companies in the textile and apparel sector. These agreements are projected to create 53,300 new jobs. Besides, Odisha has launched two state-of-the-art textile and footwear parks featuring plug-and-play facilities designed for global-standard manufacturing. Modern workers' hostels have also been introduced to enhance industrial stability.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced an increase in employment cost subsidies under the Odisha Technical Textile and Apparel Policy 2022. Subsidies for male workers will rise from Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000 per month, and for female workers, they will increase from Rs 6,000 to Rs 7,000 per month.
To expedite investment grounding, a dedicated task force will be established under the industries department. Odisha has set an ambitious goal of generating over 100,000 jobs in textiles and apparel by 2030, alongside developing new textile clusters in regions such as Bolangir, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Jagasinghpur, Ganjam, and Cuttack.
