Recover, a leading producer of recycled cotton fibre blends, has partnered traceability platform TextileGenesis to pilot a project aimed at improving supply chain transparency and verifying circularity claims in the fashion industry.

TextileGenesis, a SaaS platform owned by Lectra, uses its proprietary Fibercoin tool to create a digital twin of fibre-based assets. Each kilogram of Recover's recycled material is issued a unique digital token Fibercoin which enables traceability from fibre to finished garment across various supply chain stages.

The pilot project will test two different methods to verify traceability and track Recover materials through the entire textile value chain. The goal is to ensure authenticity and support retailers and brands in substantiating their recycling and sustainability efforts.

As per Recover’s senior sustainability manager Orsolya Janossy, the need for traceable systems will grow, especially under emerging legislation in the European Union. Recover already uses physical tracers, but aims to boost digital verification through this collaboration.

TextileGenesis founder and CEO Amit Gautam noted that the platform is well positioned to support Recover’s circularity goals. If successful, the pilot could pave the way for large-scale fiber-to-retail traceability, making it easier for brands to authenticate circular content in their products.
