Sangeeta Tanwani to lead textiles transformation at Grasim Industries

A flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group, Grasim Industries has announced the appointment of Sangeeta Tanwani as CEO (designate) of its textiles business, marking a deliberate shift toward consumer-centric brand architecture. Effective August 1, 2026, Tanwani will join the leadership team, formally assuming the role of CEO on November 1, 2026. She succeeds Kapil Agrawal, a veteran who has been instrumental in scaling the group’s technical textiles and integrated fiber platforms; Agrawal will transition to a new executive assignment within the Aditya Birla Group.
The appointment underscores a broader institutional shift towards high-value, branded apparel and sustainable textile solutions. Having previously spearheaded the transformation of the Pantaloons retail chain and directed the growth of the value-fashion brand OWND, Tanwani brings extensive expertise in consumer behavior, brand positioning, and retail expansion. Industry analysts observe this leadership change signals a concerted effort to deepen the integration between raw material strength and retail reach. By leveraging her background in fast-moving consumer goods and fashion retail, Grasim intends to increase the premiumization of its portfolio including the expansion of the Linen Club brand while facing the tightening global regulatory landscape concerning fibre traceability and circularity.
A global leader in viscose fiber and a prominent player in the Indian textile and apparel sector, Grasim Industries operates across the value chain from pulp and fiber to premium fabrics. The company focuses on sustainable material innovation and integrated production. It is currently scaling production capacities in high-performance cellulosic fibers and strengthening its presence in the domestic and international fashion segments. Historically, the company has evolved from a commodity producer into an innovation-led industrial conglomerate under the Aditya Birla Group.
