SISPA urges government to support spinning sector

During its 34th Annual General Body Meeting held in Coimbatore on September 14, 2025, the South India Spinners Association (SISPA) urged the government to take steps to support the spinning sector. The association made an urgent appeal to the Union Textiles Ministry to establish Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) depots in key districts of Tamil Nadu. The group emphasized that local depots would help reduce logistics costs and guarantee a steady supply of cotton for the state's spinning mills, which are major consumers of the raw material.

Additionally, SISPA reiterated its demand that the CCI sell cotton in the domestic market at prices consistent with international rates. This measure, the association argues, would help boost the industry's competitiveness.
