Making advancement in its efforts to offset rising energy costs, Sportking India has integrated solar energy into its manufacturing operations. A prominent player in the textile value chain, Sportking India expects this move help them reduce power costs by 12-13 per cent annually besides increasing profits in its yarn division.

To insulate operations from the volatile utility tariffs, Sportking India has executed a Solar Power Purchase Agreement with Evincea Renewable Seven. Beyond the immediate fiscal relief, the project serves as a cornerstone for the company’s broader operational efficiency mandate. Analysts say, such investments are essential for textile manufacturers to maintain competitive pricing in export-heavy markets, where international buyers increasingly mandate low-carbon supply chains. As the company simultaneously advances a Rs 1,000 crore greenfield expansion to add 150,000 spindles, the ability to anchor production in cost-effective, sustainable power provides a buffer against cyclical margin pressures.

A vertically integrated textile manufacturer established in 1977, Sportking India specializes in yarn, knitted fabrics, and garments. It operates seven facilities across Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, supported by a retail network of over 100 stores. The company focuses on global export markets and maintains a strong financial growth trajectory, with recent efforts centered on massive capacity expansion and operational modernization.
