Sportking India plans to increase the spinning capacity of its Odisha plant by 40 per cent. The company plans to add 1.5 lakh new spindles in the first phase of the project with an investment of approximately Rs 1,000 crore. It currently has a capacity of 3.79 lakh spindles.

The project is expected to be completed within 12 to 15 months from the approval date and will be financed through a mix of term loans and internal accruals. It is intended to strengthen Sportking India's position in yarn manufacturing, meet rising domestic and global demand, and better serve the East India market and export logistics due to the new plant's proximity to ports. The expansion is part of a larger vision for Sportking to become a more vertically integrated textile company.
