Surat synthetics rebounds amid upward polyester chip valuations
...Surat’s synthetic textile sector is seeing a notable upward correction in polyester staple fiber and chip valuations, directly due to firming prices in purified terephthalic acid and volatile monoethylene glycol markets across domestic supply corridors. Local spinning and weaving units across western hubs report input cost pressures are affecting operational margins for commodity polyester filament yarns, compelling producers to pass on the higher expenses downstream to fabric manufacturers. While domestic demand for blended polyester fabrics remains steady across northern retail markets, processors are cautious about inventory accumulation.
Analysts point out, fluctuating feedstock costs are forcing medium-scale enterprises to rethink purchasing volumes and tighten working capital cycles to protect profits. As Ramesh Mehta, Director, Gujarat Synthetic Processors Association says, sustained volatility in petrochemical inputs requires manufacturers to optimize operational efficiency and secure long-term supply contracts to maintain competitive pricing in export channels.
