TRB Rajaa, Minister for Industries Tamil Nadu has identified a 120-acre site in Jahir Ammapalayam, Salem for establishing a textile park. The initiative aligns with Chief Minister MK Stalin's efforts to boost employment, develop industries, and improve livelihoods across the state.

During his visit to the site, Rajaa highlighted, the textile park would create 10,000 direct jobs and 30,000 to 40,000 indirect employment opportunities. Work on the project would commence soon, he assured.

The proposal for the textile park follows the Chief Minister’s 2021 announcement during his Salem visit, which also included plans for a mini Tidel Park. In May 2023, the foundation stone for the mini Tidel Park was laid at Anaigoundampatti. Built at a cost of Rs 29.50 crore, the three-story facility spans 55,000 sq ft and was inaugurated in September 2023.

The Minister also inspected the mini Tidel Park and discussed Salem Airport’s expansion with officials, emphasising the importance of such infrastructure projects for regional growth. These initiatives underline Tamil Nadu’s commitment to fostering industrial development and creating job opportunities in tier-two cities like Salem.
