TechnoSport to invest Rs 130 crore to expand Erode facility
...Activewear manufacturer TechnoSport has committed Rs 130 crore toward the second phase of expansion at its Erode production plant in Tamil Nadu, aiming to boost daily fabric output from 25 tons to 40 tons by FY27-end. Formalized through an MoU, the capital expenditure will strengthen domestic technical textile infrastructure and support an extensive retail distribution network spanning over 16,000 storefronts. By maintaining a vertically integrated model covering yarn processing, fabric development, and final garment assembly, they look to capture growing domestic demand for high-performance athletic apparel.
Tamil Nadu has been an essential cornerstone of the company’s operational roadmap, and scaling infrastructure allows them to build long-term value alongside regional employment, says Sunil Jhunjhunwala, Co-founder and Managing Director. The sector faces challenges due to raw material cost volatility, yet localized vertical integration shields margins and ensures reliable inventory replenishment for retailers. Analysts say, heavy investments in automated textile machinery will grant regional brands a distinct competitive advantage in meeting strict consumer expectations for durable, moisture-wicking activewear.
Established in 2007, TechnoSport specializes in functional, performance-led activewear yarn, fabric, and finished garments for the Indian market. Targeting Rs 1,000 crore in revenue for FY27 following Rs 600 crore performance in FY26, the brand plans aggressive retail footprint enlargement, scaling exclusive stores alongside robust manufacturing depth.
