Japan’s Teijin Frontier, has introduced a new recycled polyester fabric that replicates the refined appearance and tactile feel of natural fibres while delivering superior functionality. The innovative material is crafted using the company’s proprietary four-lobed, flat cross-section yarn with random thicknesses, developed through advanced in-house spinning technology. This unique structure provides a densely textured look with the irregularities typically found in natural fabrics.

Designed for casual and lifestyle apparel, the fabric offers higher comfort features such as moisture-wicking via capillary action, a cool touch effect from titanium oxide, anti-stickiness due to surface irregularities, and ultraviolet protection through light-scattering properties. Special dyeing and finishing techniques further enrich its natural look and feel.

Fully aligned with Teijin Frontier’s circularity goals, the fabric is produced entirely from recycled polyester and can be either knitted or woven. It targets the growing demand for sustainable textiles that balance performance with aesthetics.

The company plans to commercialize the fabric for spring/summer 2026 season. Sales are set to begin in fiscal year 2025, with a target distribution of 250,000 metres by fiscal 2027. Teijin Frontier aims to position the material as a high-value solution in eco-conscious fashion markets.
