Telangana's cotton belt, particularly North Telangana, is anticipating an early sowing season due to recent rains. Farmers, having wrapped up election campaigning, are now preparing their land. The Cotton Association of India (CAI) maintains its cotton pressing estimate for the current season (ending September 30th) at 309.7 lakh bales (170 kg each).

The total cotton supply is pegged at 315.86 lakh bales. With opening stock (28.9 lakh bales), exports (21.5 lakh bales), and estimated consumption (192.8 lakh bales by April-end), the total cotton availability is estimated at 359 lakh bales.

Significantly, CAI has revised Telangana's cotton pressing estimate upwards by 1 lakh bale to 35 lakh bales, reflecting potential for increased production. This revision highlights the potential impact of early rains and farmer preparedness.
