India’s domestic textile and apparel manufacturing sectors are set for higher raw material stability as Telangana increases its cotton procurement framework for the 2026–27 marketing season. To protect growers and streamline raw fiber supply chains, the state will operationalize 131 Cotton Corporation of India procurement centers along with 356 notified ginning mills, handling an estimated production of 25.85 lakh tons across 46.33 lakh acre. The Union government increased the Minimum Support Price for long-staple cotton by Rs 557 to Rs 8,667 per quintal, mitigating raw material price volatility for spinning mills while guaranteeing fair returns for rain-fed smallholders.

Bypassing intermediaries, direct digital integration through the Kapas Kisan App and verified yield certification will channel traceable raw cotton directly into primary processing hubs. In textile clusters across Warangal, structured purchasing protocols have previously eliminated uncalibrated mixed loads, yielding higher fiber uniformity for downstream spinning facilities and yarn manufacturers.

Eliminating middlemen and synchronizing ginning operations secures the consistent fiber grades necessary for high-speed commercial looms and export-quality apparel production, states R Tummala Nageswara Rao, Agriculture Minister. This expanded infrastructure stabilizes yarn pricing across South India's apparel manufacturing sector.
