Textile Ministry launches new initiatives through SITP

The Ministry of Textiles is implementing several initiatives to boost investment, employment, and exports in the textile industry, primarily through the Scheme for Integrated Textile Park (SITP). This scheme aims to establish world-class textile parks in India's major textile hubs.

While the SITP was active until March 31, 2021, it has since been absorbed into the Textile Cluster Development Scheme (TCDS) to complete ongoing projects. With its Project Management Consultant (PMC) and the Office of the Textile Commissioner, the Ministry continuously monitors these projects to ensure they meet physical and financial goals, stay on schedule, and adhere to quality standards.

Under the SITP, the Ministry approved 50 textile parks including four in Andhra Pradesh. To date, 30 parks have been completed with the remaining 20 being in various stages of development. The Indian government has released approximately Rs 1,532 crore for the scheme, which has created jobs for 123,000 people. Additionally, the Ministry has selected sites for seven PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Parks. These parks will be located in Tamil Nadu (Virudhnagar), Telangana (Warangal), Gujarat (Navsari), Karnataka (Kalaburagi), Madhya Pradesh (Dhar), Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow), and Maharashtra (Amravati). This new initiative has a total budget of $533.4 million (Rs 4,445 crore) over seven years, through the FY27–28.
