The Woolmark Company has unveiled Woolmark+, a comprehensive initiative for the fiber’s sustainable future. This initiative prioritizes animal welfare, enhances woolgrower livelihoods, and accelerates low-impact production while promoting circularity within the sector. Woolmark+ outlines 13 strategic projects aimed at boosting productivity, reducing carbon emissions, and encouraging natural regeneration. This approach not only supports woolgrowers in achieving their commercial goals but also aligns with brands' growing commitment to reducing Scope 3 emissions and improving supply chain sustainability.

One major focus of Woolmark+ is Carbon Insetting. This program facilitates connections between global brands and woolgrowers, enabling them to collaborate and meet their emissions targets through wool-insetting initiatives.

Additionally, the initiative has launched nine research and development efforts focused on reducing methane emissions from sheep through the use of feed additives. Woolmark+ endorses nature-positive specifications by conducting environmental measurements on farms, empowering woolgrowers and brands to make verifiable claims about their sustainability efforts.

Another key highlight of Woolmark+ is the Nature Positive Impact Program. This program offers investors a platform to engage with leading organizations working on emission reduction, biodiversity improvement, climate resilience, and circularity initiatives.

Moreover, the initiative has launched a program to position wool as the most recycled fiber in the industry. John Robert, CEO of Woolmark, emphasizes Woolmark+ empowers woolgrowers, brands, and suppliers to transition towards a nature-positive approach. It enhances cost efficiency and creates diversified revenue opportunities across the wool value chain by effectively communicating the inherent value of wool and the environmental benefits of its production.

Ajay Pradhan, Senior Marketing & Business Development Manager - India, Woolmark, points out the initiative's aim to support and recognize the dedication of the wool supply chain to sustainable innovation and positive impact.
