The Home Textiles division of Trident Limited secured a new US patent for its innovative ‘Pile Fabric and Methods for Manufacture of the same in early September 2025.  The core innovation involves using a multi-ply pile yarn - made by twisting two or more component yarns together. After the fabric is woven, a specialized manufacturing or finishing process causes these component yarns within the pile loop to separate and curl, creating multiple sub-loops within the original loop structure. This is an evolution of Trident's earlier patented methods, which focused on using soluble ‘sacrificial’ fibers to create air-rich yarns. This new patent refines the actual loop and pile structure of the fabric itself.

This unique sub-loop structure delivers significant quality and commercial advantages. The fabric's texture is notably enhanced, providing a distinctively pleasant feel. Furthermore, the design improves key product performance characteristics: it boosts durability and pull resistance by stabilizing the yarn, increases bulkiness and thickness for a loftier feel, maximizes absorbency by increasing the surface area, and contributes to reduced lint loss, making the product last longer. Securing this US patent reinforces Trident's commitment to innovation and gives the company a strong competitive edge in the highly competitive global textile market, aligning directly with its overall growth strategy, including its ambitious 'Vision 2025.'
