TURNS GmbH and Tailorlux partner on groundbreaking traceability project for recycled cotton

TURNS GmbH, a leader in Germany's circular textile industry, has partnered Tailorlux GmbH to launch a pioneering project that sets a new standard for traceability and transparency in recycled cotton products. This collaboration signifies a major step forward in sustainable practices within the textile industry.

The project leverages European post-consumer textile waste and utilizes cutting-edge technology to ensure the complete traceability of recycled cotton throughout the production process.  TURNS and Tailorlux combine high-tech tracer fibers with advanced spectroscopy to meticulously track and verify the recycled content in every single textile product.

“The goal of this collaboration is to provide physical proof of recycled material content,” said a spokesperson for TURNS. “This ensures product integrity and protects against greenwashing claims. By aligning physical traceability with accurate quantification of recycled cotton, we can demonstrate that TURNS' materials contain the exact percentage of recycled content they claim.”

The project begins at the ALTEX recycling plant in Germany, where post-consumer textile waste is meticulously sorted and processed.  These discarded textiles are then transformed into high-quality recycled fibers by ALTEX.  The recycled fibers are spun into yarn and then woven into sustainable fabrics that meet stringent environmental standards. Finally, these fabrics are crafted into stylish garments that embody the principles of circular fashion.

Each garment is embedded with Tailorlux's traceability technology, creating a fully transparent and verifiable journey from waste collection to finished product. This initiative combats greenwashing in the fashion industry by providing consumers with confidence in the authenticity of recycled cotton content.

The collaboration between TURNS and Tailorlux promotes sustainable practices throughout the textile industry and bolsters consumer trust in recycled cotton products. This project represents a significant step towards a more circular textile economy.
