Vidarbha enters global export market with maiden cotton yarn shipment to China

Vidarbha’s textile sector has marked a milestone as the Ramdas Athawale Backward Class Cotton Growers Cooperative Spinning Mill in Yavatmal district dispatched its maiden cotton yarn consignment to China. Located in the agrarian hub of Digras, the cooperative facility successfully cleared stringent technical evaluations conducted by international textile inspectors, validating the superior grade of its carded ring-spun yarn. The milestone signals a shift for central Indian farming communities, bridging local raw material abundance directly with overseas manufacturing demand. Meeting strict international benchmarks validates the mill’s technical capabilities and opens lucrative global corridors for regional producers, says Milind Mankar, Founder Chairman. 

Operating with an active capacity of 16,500 spindles yielding up to 12 tons daily, the enterprise has capitalized on automated spinning technologies to bypass traditional supply bottlenecks. Analysts say, such direct international market integration boosts realization margins for domestic spinners amidst fluctuating global commodity pricing and rising cotton procurement costs.

Registered in 2019, the cooperative spinning mill commenced commercial operations in 2025. Specializing in high-grade cotton yarn production, it serves domestic and international textile supply chains. Backed by modern automated infrastructure, its expansion plans focus on scaling operational spindle capacities and securing additional overseas export destinations to maximize farmer returns.
