India’s institutional home textile and commercial flooring sectors are expanding rapidly as domestic hospitality investments and public infrastructure modernization grow. Capitalizing on institutional demand, global home textiles leader Welspun Living has elevated nine-year company veteran Mohit Sharma to Vice President  -  Hospitality & Government Sales (Home Textile & Flooring), Domestic Business.

In his new remit, Sharma will oversee sales strategy across India and the SAARC region, targeting commercial lodging developers, entertainment projects, and public procurement contracts. The move directly supports Welspun’s broader strategy to diversify beyond traditional consumer retail into high-margin institutional contracts. Commercial buyers increasingly favor integrated suppliers capable of delivering unified technical textiles, fire-retardant carpet tiles, and high-durability hospitality bath linens under unified service-level agreements.

Institutional buyers demand rigorous product durability and agile domestic supply chains, opines Sharma. By combining advanced engineered flooring with specialized hospitality textiles, the company is capturing larger wallet shares in upcoming regional hotel developments and public facility projects, he adds

A part of the $3.6 billion Welspun Group, Welspun Living manufactures home textiles and flooring products including towels, bed linen, and carpet tiles. Operating globally with key domestic and export footprints across North America, Europe, and SAARC regions, the company reported FY25 revenue of Rs 10,697 crore while targeting consumer-led institutional growth. Established in 1985, it continues expanding its domestic market presence.
