Xinjiang sets new cotton harvest record at 11,154 kg per hectare

Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has set a new national record for large-scale mechanical cotton harvesting. A 7.1 hectare cotton field in the Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture of Bortala yielded an impressive 11,154 kgs per hectare.

This significant achievement surpasses previous records and underscores the region's commitment to agricultural innovation. In the 1990s, the average cotton yield in Bortala was a mere 4,500 kgs per hectare. The recent breakthrough is a testament to the successful implementation of advanced agricultural technologies and practices.

Xinjiang's agricultural authorities, in collaboration with leading research institutions, rigorously monitored and evaluated the harvesting and output data. The new record is expected to inspire cotton growers to adopt more scientific methods and further elevate the region's agricultural productivity.

With 92,667 hectares of cotton fields, Bortala is a major cotton-producing area in Xinjiang. This record-breaking yield not only boosts the region's agricultural economy but also strengthens China's position as a global cotton powerhouse.
