The Aid by Trade Foundation (AbTF) will introduce its Transparency Standard in Q1 2025 to enhance the traceability and reliability of sustainable cotton certified under Cotton made in Africa (CmiA) and the Regenerative Cotton Standard (RCS). This independently verified system will ensure compliance throughout the supply chain, from cotton fields to finished products.

The new standard incorporates digital transaction documents (DTDs) to track cotton seamlessly, along with risk-based desktop audits and on-site onboarding for spinning mills. Gerlind Baz, AbTF project manager, highlights its significance, stating, “This step ensures even greater transparency and reliability.”

Tobias Wollermann of the Otto Group calls it a timely move, emphasizing its role in strengthening supply chain due diligence. Regular self-assessments and independent verification will further build confidence in the integrity of CmiA and RCS products.

Managing Director Tina Stridde notes, “Proving raw material origins is critical for brands today. Our new standard addresses this challenge amid growing international demands for transparency and sustainability.”
