Andhra Pradesh is gearing up to revitalize its textile industry with the establishment of new textile parks and increased support for weavers. Handlooms and Textiles Minister S Savitha announced plans to set up textile parks in Pamidi and Rayadurg in Anantapur district, as well as in Emmiganur and Mylavaram in Kurnool district.

The government aims to establish weaver stalls across the state and provide weavers with tools at a 90 per cent subsidy. Minister Savitha highlighted the potential of the Emmiganur textile park, which could generate 5,000 jobs. However, the project faced delays due to a previous government's decision to allocate the land for housing.

The state government is currently working to revive the project, which is now being processed under the current TDP government. The minister further revealed that a new textile policy is in the pipeline, and several MPs have committed MPLADS funds to establish weaver stalls. Health Minister Sathya Kumar has also played a crucial role in securing a Rs 30 crore investment from the Central Ministry of Handlooms and Textiles for a mega textile park.
