Andhra Pradesh unveils ambitious plans for textile and maritime sectors
Andhra Pradesh is aiming for significant growth in its textile and maritime sectors. The state cabinet recently approved the AP Textile and Apparel Policy 4.0 2024-29 and the AP Maritime Policy.
The textile policy aims to attract investments worth $1.18 billion and create 200,000 jobs over the next five years. Five textile parks will be established under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. The policy targets textile exports worth $1 billion by 2029, focusing on transforming the state into a major hub for yarn and fabric production.
The maritime policy focuses on developing Andhra Pradesh as a port-centric economy, leveraging its 975-kilometer coastline. The state government is actively pursuing the establishment of a mega shipyard in collaboration with the central government.
These initiatives align with chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu's vision of 'One Family, One Entrepreneur,' aiming to empower the youth and boost the state's economy.
