ASK Scandinavia has partnered with Spinnova and Natural Indigo Finland to create a sustainably produced tote bag, the Nova. Made with a blend of 30 per cent Spinnova wood-based fibres and 70 per cent cotton, the bag features a natural dye sourced from Paulig’s coffee waste.

The eco-friendly dyeing process, developed by Natural Indigo Finland, utilizes tannins and other natural materials to create a sustainable alternative to traditional dyeing methods.

The Nova tote, now available for pre-order, is a minimalist design that combines durability and style. The amber color is derived from the coffee waste, giving the bag a unique, sustainable touch. This collaboration emphasizes innovation in textile production and dyeing, demonstrating how waste can be repurposed for practical fashion.

“Witnessing how innovative materials combine for a sustainable product is a milestone,” says Shahriare Mahmood, Chief Product and Sustainability Officer at Spinnova. Pasi Ainasoja, CEO of Natural Indigo Finland, highlights the project’s alignment with sustainable development goals, underscoring its positive impact on the textile industry.
