The 12th Asian Textile Conference (ATEXCON 2025), organized by the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI), concluded successfully in Mumbai. Gherzi served as the official knowledge partner for the event, which focused on Asia’s dominance in global textile production and trade.

Asia accounts for 63 per cent of global cotton production and 90 per cent of man-made fiber output, reinforcing its position as the key raw material supplier. The region also holds 90 per cent of the world’s spinning capacity and 85 per cent of knitting capacity, making it the largest textile manufacturing hub.

CITI Chairman Rakesh Mehra emphasized the need for value addition to enhance export earnings. ATEXCON 2025 saw the release of two key industry documents: a five-point agenda for policy interventions to achieve India’s textile export target of $100 billion by 2030 and a voluntary code of conduct to prevent child and forced labor.

Sessions covered trade policy shifts, digital transformation, technical textiles, and emerging fashion trends. Experts discussed strategies to strengthen Asia’s competitive edge in the evolving global market. The conference concluded with key takeaways to drive industry growth and sustainability.
