BASF unveils solutions for sustainable textiles at Techtextil

BASF showcased a range of innovations at Techtextil that promote circularity and sustainability in textile production. They introduced a jacket from Inditex made from recycled polyamide (PA6) derived from textile waste. This recycling tech even handles mixed fabrics, allowing multiple recycling cycles without compromising quality.

Beyond recycled fabrics, BASF offers alternatives for raw materials. Ultramid Ccycled uses recycled plastic waste, while Ultramid BMB incorporates bio-waste, reducing the carbon footprint by over 50 per cent compared to traditional methods.

They also presented sustainable alternatives for elastic materials with their Elastollan line. These bio-based TPU materials offer the same performance as their fossil-based counterparts.

For increased transparency, BASF introduced a blockchain platform that tracks materials' origins and carbon footprint. They're also partnering with universities to research regenerative cotton production in Europe.

Finally, BASF showcased upcycling technologies like Acrodur, acForm, and Acronal. These allow transforming waste like denim, coffee grounds, and paper cups into new products like flooring panels and building materials.
