Bengal government plans revival of Mayurakshi Cotton Mill in Birbhum

The state government plans to rejuvenate the Mayurakshi Cotton Mill in Birbhum, aiming to make it self-sustainable. This decision emerged from the first board meeting held at the Circuit House in Bolpur, where a detailed revival strategy was discussed. Chandranath Sinha, the state MSME minister and Bolpur MLA, shared that chief minister Mamata Banerjee formed a committee to oversee the mill's revival. The board deliberated on various strategies to enhance the mill's profitability.
Present at the meeting were Anubrata Mondal, TMC district president and mill chairman, along with Bidhan Roy, the district magistrate, and other board members. Currently, the mill produces school uniforms, but there are plans to expand its production. Discussions included producing uniforms for correctional homes across the state. The board member emphasized the goal of increasing the mill's production to enhance employees' earnings. The revival proposals will be submitted to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for further guidance. The state government is dedicated to taking the necessary steps to revitalize the mill and ensure its long-term profitability.
