Better Cotton held its annual Regional Member Meeting on February 15 in New Delhi, bringing together around 250 industry representatives from South Asia. The event, held alongside Bharat Tex, India’s largest textile fair, focused on sustainability, certification, and traceability in the cotton sector.

Speakers included representatives from the Ambuja Cement Foundation and the Lupin Foundation, who shared insights on implementing Better Cotton’s mission at the farm level. H&M and Bestseller reflected on one year of Better Cotton Traceability, highlighting successes and future developments. IKEA’s Arvind Rewal discussed scaling regenerative agricultural practices, while Y G Prasad of the Central Institute for Cotton Research emphasized soil health’s role in sustainability.

Industry leaders from Vardhman Textiles and Impulse International explored the impact of emerging EU legislation on sourcing strategies. Cotton Council International’s Peush Narang provided a forecast on policy and innovation trends shaping the sector.

Better Cotton staff led sessions on partnerships, certification, and the organization’s 2030 strategy. The meeting reinforced the importance of collaboration in advancing sustainable cotton production and enhancing supply chain transparency.
