Bodice unveils new sustainable collection with Bemberg yarn from India and Japan

Bodice, the contemporary Indian fashion label, marked its runway return with a new collection spotlighting sustainability and craftsmanship. Presented at the brand's New Delhi flagship store, the collection is rooted in transformation and evolving identity, brought to life through a collaboration with Asahi Kasei’s Bemberg yarn.
The journey began last November when Bodice founder Ruchika Sachdeva visited Kyoto and Nobeoka in Japan, home to Bemberg’s manufacturing base. The immersive experience deepened her understanding of Japanese craftsmanship and Bemberg’s commitment to responsible innovation. This was followed by sourcing visits to Surat and Varanasi two of India’s key textile hubs where Sachdeva’s team handpicked fabrics made using Bemberg yarn.
Produced from regenerated cellulose, Bemberg aligns with Bodice’s sustainable ethos. The collection features textiles printed using Bodice’s signature brush-printing in collaboration with Jaipur artisans and incorporates upcycled scraps through colour-blocked silhouettes. The pieces emphasize longevity, versatility, and slow fashion principles.
Bemberg Division General Manager Takeshi Iitaka said the collaboration reflects both brands shared vision of environmental consciousness. Ruchika added that the showcase was more than a fashion show it was a reflective moment celebrating craftsmanship, sustainability, and cultural dialogue between India and Japan.
