Young Farmers Clubs across the UK are benefiting from a long-standing partnership with British Wool, which offers members significant discounts on shearing courses. This initiative, now in its seventh year, has empowered over 700 young farmers to enhance their sheep shearing and wool handling expertise.

Richard Schofield, Shearing Manager at British Wool, emphasized the program's value, stating, "This incentive provides an unparalleled opportunity for YFC members to elevate their shearing skills through discounted courses while maintaining their YFC membership."

National Federation of Young Farmers Clubs (NFYFC) Chair of Council Drew Bailey expressed pride in the collaboration, highlighting its contribution to improving shearing standards. He stressed the importance of the Blue Seal qualification for national competition participants and emphasized that this offer encompasses all levels of shearing training, regardless of prior experience.

Sam Jones, a 2025 NFYFC Sheep Shearing champion from Ruthin YFC, urged fellow members to seize this opportunity. He emphasized the importance of continuous learning, advising, "Keep attending courses to consistently improve your skills. There's always something new to learn." Jones encouraged young farmers to take advantage of the YFC discounts, attend multiple courses, and gain practical experience by shearing as many sheep as possible. He concluded with a message of perseverance, urging members to never give up on their pursuit of excellence.
