CAI: Maharashtra leads in cotton arrivals, North lags behind.

The Cotton Association of India (CAI) released state-wise cotton arrivals statistics for the season 2023-24 (October 1, 2023 - September 30, 2024). The report reveals a mixed performance across major cotton-producing states.

Maharashtra takes the lead with the highest estimated arrivals at 7.49 million bales (1.27 million metric tons), followed by Gujarat at 7.35 million bales (1.25 million metric tons). These states contribute significantly to India's overall cotton production.

The northern region, surprisingly, lags behind with just 1.8 million bales (0.31 million metric tons) arriving during this period. This could be due to factors like lower production or delayed harvesting compared to other regions.

On the other hand, some key cotton belts like Telangana and Andhra Pradesh witnessed a decline in arrivals compared to previous seasons. Telangana's arrivals are estimated at 3.4 million bales (0.58 million metric tons) and Andhra Pradesh at 1.05 million bales (0.18 million metric tons).

The total estimated arrivals for all of India stand at 27.77 million bales (4.72 million metric tons). This data provides insights into potential cotton production trends for the ongoing season.

The CAI report is a valuable resource for the textile industry, offering insights into cotton availability across various states.
