China cotton fabric exports up 10.2 per cent in Jan-Feb.
Overall, cotton fabric exports for the first two months of 2024 exhibited a positive trend. Compared to the same period in 2023, export volumes grew by 9.32 per cent to reach 938 million meters, with a total value rising 10.24 per cent to $1.51 billion.
However, a closer look at monthly figures reveals a contrasting performance. January 2024 witnessed a decline in both volume (down 2.77 per cent to 560 million meters) and value (down 3.45 per cent to $919 million) compared to January 2023. This suggests potential temporary factors affecting January's exports.
February 2024, on the other hand, presented a much stronger performance. Export volumes surged by an impressive 34.12 per cent year-on-year to 378 million meters. The value also climbed significantly by 40.89 per cent compared to February 2023. This significant growth in February helped offset the January dip and contributed to the overall positive trend for the first two months of 2024.
