China's knitted fabric exports see downturn in 2023
China's knitted fabric exports dipped in 2023, marking a shift after two years of steady growth. Shipment volume fell 6.1 per cent to 2.4 million tons, though the overall trend since 2013 showed a moderate annual increase of 4.3 per cent with some fluctuations. The peak year was 2019 with a 15 per cent surge.
The value of exports also contracted to an estimated $12.9 billion in 2023, following a similar pattern to volume. While the average annual growth rate from 2013 was 4.2 per cent, there were significant variations. Exports skyrocketed 35 per cent in 2022, reaching a record $14.9 billion before dipping the following year.

Mexico had the highest average price ($12,183 per ton) in 2023, while Guatemala received the lowest priced fabrics ($2,376 per ton).
